Mary C. White, ScD, is Chief of the Epidemiology and Applied Research Branch in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. In this position, Dr. White leads a program of applied research to support CDC programs and partners and address national priorities in cancer prevention and control. She has been at CDC since 1989, and with the cancer division since 2002. Dr. White received a doctorate of science in epidemiology and occupational health from the Harvard School of Public Health. She has published and lectured widely on topics related to the control of cancer and other chronic diseases, the risks associated with environmental exposures, and the interpretation of scientific evidence for public health.
