Shelli Kesler, PhD

Associate Professor of Neuro-oncology

Director, Cognitive Neuroimaging Lab

University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

Dr. Kesler’s training is in neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience and applied statistics.  She is currently an Associate Professor of Neuro-oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.  Dr. Kesler is particularly interested in the neurotoxic effects of cancer therapies. She has pioneered the application of advanced neuroscience methods including connectomics and machine learning to the characterization of chemotherapy-related brain injury wth the aim of identifying diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers.  She investigates these biomarkers in both humans and animals with the goal of identifying targets for intervention.  Dr. Kesler has authored over 70 scientific publications and was a previous recipient of the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award.
