Healthcare Quality and Safety (HQS) is the study and prevention of adverse events, suboptimal care, ineffective treatments, inefficient processes, and unnecessary clinical variation in health systems. HQS professionals are on the forefront of transitioning healthcare delivery towards high-value care. Originally created by the Jefferson College of Population Health to develop a critical mass of physician faculty able to lead in quality improvement and patient safety, the Quality Improvement & Patient Safety (QIPS) Leadership Development Program has grown and evolved to encompass interprofessional leaders from all areas of healthcare and train the next generation of quality and safety leaders.
Topics include Project and Change management, Data Acquisition and Analysis, Making the Business Case for Quality, Leadership, Proactive Risk Assessment and Retrospective Cause Analysis, Team Building and Negotiation Skills, High Reliability and Complexity Science and Presentation Skills. A major component of the QIPS program is the individual, mentored improvement project. The monthly sessions are designed to support the development and implementation of the learners’ improvement work.
This session covers Data Acquisition and Management.
This session focuses on Healthcare Data Analytics, Determining Your Project Deliverable, Metrics and Data Needs Overview, and Applying Data Needs and Metrics to Your Project.
To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than than Sunday, July 17, 2022. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.
This is an interdisciplinary educational activity designed for all healthcare providers and healthcare professionals.
Following completion of this session, learners will be able to:
- Analyze the 'raw data' needs for QI/PS projects, and population health initiatives.
- Identify clinical, administrative, financial, operational, and other data sources that inform individual improvement projects.
- Evaluate Thomas Davenport’s model for working with quants in data analysis projects.
- Construct solutions to overcome identified challenges and obstacles in data acquisition.
- Organize data needs specific to individual improvement project.
