Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a worldwide public health problem that needs to be managed in its early stages in order to prevent its development or slow its progression.
This inaugural course will examine disease burden, recommendations for assessment and management, clinical practice guidelines, clinical trials, new therapies, areas of uncertainty and future challenges of this disease.
Through didactic lectures, case presentations, and panel discussions, the following topics will be explored:
- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): Epidemiology, Classification, and Complications
- CKD Management and Transition to End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
- Diabetic Kidney Disease
- Kidney Transplant: What the General Practitioner Needs to Know
- Post Kidney Transplant Complications: Infection and Malignancy
- Hypertension Management in Chronic Kidney Disease
This course is designed for practicing physicians, nurses/nurse practitioners, hospitalists, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals specializing in nephrology, internal medicine, family medicine, and general practice.
