Co-directed by three area Neurosurgical Training Programs: Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and the Perelman School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania, this year’s symposium will be devoted to the following theme: the future of neurosurgery.
Keynote addresses by Smith Johnston, III, MD, MS and Ali R. Rezai, MD will focus on the latest innovations in space medicine as it relates to human health, performance, & longevity and brain-machine interface and restoring cortical control, respectively.
Case-based panel discussions will carry forward the theme and explore the future challenges of functional neurosurgery, spine surgery, neuro-oncology, and neurosurgery resident training.
Additionally, a resident research competition will provide an analytical review of current research endeavors.
This course is designed for all specialists working in neurosurgery: practicing physicians, nurses, fellows and residents.

FOR MEN: Jacket and tie are strongly preferred. Jacket and collared shirt are required at all times on the first floor members-only section of the League House.
Not Permitted: turtlenecks shirts, collared shirts open more than one button, untucked shirts, jeans, t-shirts, athletic attire, sneakers, and flip- flops.
FOR WOMEN: Business suits, tailored pant or skirt ensembles and dresses.
Not Permitted: spandex, open midriffs, halter tops, shorts, leggings, extremely short hemlines (not more than 3” above the knee), jeans, t-shirts, athletic attire, sneakers, and flip- flops.
EXCEPTIONS
Private Dining/Meeting Rooms: Business casual attire is acceptable in private meeting rooms or for private dining events.
Business casual attire: Defined as a collared shirt and pressed slacks for men and comparable attire for women.
CELL PHONES, PDA’S, LAPTOPS, DIGITAL READERS
Cell phones, personal digital assistants and other similar devices may only be used in the Business Center or private meeting rooms except that the brief and discrete use of cell phones and PDA’s, are permitted but discouraged, in the Smoking Room, Business Café (located in the back of the Old Café) and the main hallways. Reading with digital readers is permitted in all areas of the League House. Laptops and other similar devices may only be used in the Business Center, the Business Café and private meeting rooms. The use of speakerphones is prohibited, and all cell phone, PDA, and laptop alerts must be silenced throughout the League House except in private rooms.
