Pain Management - Opioid
This course meets the Pennsylvania Requirement for Opioid Education:
In order for medical physician and surgeons, medical physician assistants and nurse-midwives with prescriptive authority to renew their license or prescriptive authority approval for the next renewal period, section 9.1(a)(2) of ABC-MAP requires that they complete at least two (2) hours of continuing education:
- Practices of Prescribing or Dispensing of Opioids (1 hour)
- Pain Management (1 hour), or
- Identification of Addiction (1 hour)

Learning Objectives & Target Audience
- Choose the safest opioid for a particular patient based on comorbid medical conditions and pharmacology of the particular opioid
- Perform dose conversions between various opioids
- Aware of regulations for prescribing methadone and buprenorphine for opioid use disorders versus prescribing for pain

William C. Jangro, DO
Dr. Jangro completed his residency in Psychiatry at Stony Brook University Hospital before completing fellowships in Psychosomatic Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Addiction Psychiatry at Beth Israel Medical Center. He is board certified in Psychiatry, Psychosomatic Medicine, and Addiction Psychiatry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine. He is heavily involved in Graduate Medical Education. Clinical interests include Psychiatric-Oncology, Transplant Psychiatry, and Pain Medicine in patients with comorbid Addictions.
This course is open to all interested learners. If you are seeking CE credit, the accreditation requirements for successful completion are: You must register and complete the entire online program, viewing the video in its entirety, obtaining a successful post test score of at least 80%, and completing the online evaluation, in order to receive full credit for this course.
