Advancements in the field of neurosurgery are occurring at an increasingly rapid rate. The integration of these advances into clinical practice often lags behind the rate at which they emerge in the literature. Therefore, a critical appraisal of the most recent and most influential advances in the various fields of neurosurgery is necessary to effectively incorporate these advances into clinical practice.  In this virtual CME event, we will highlight the latest advances in the field of neurosurgery and identify ways in which practitioners from all fields can improve their practice and optimize the care for their patients by effectively integrating these changes into this practice.  In addition to the major topics of neurovascular disease, neurooncology, spinal cord injury, neurotrauma, neuroimaging, and functional neurosurgery, we will also discuss how to evaluate one’s practice, improve patient safety, and limit medical errors using quality improvement tools.

Major topics at this event will include:

-Multidisciplinary management of neurovascular disease – new approaches and new technologies for the medical, surgical, and endovascular management of cerebrovascular disease.

-Breakthrough Immunotherapy treatments for the management of malignant gliomas

-Novel strategies for the surgical and critical care management of traumatic brain injury and intracranial hemorrhage

-Current and emerging approaches to the management of spinal cord injury and robotic-assisted spinal surgery.

-Innovative strategies for the surgical management of epilepsy.

-Evaluation of neuroradiographic studies using emerging technologies

Special sessions will also cover:

-Improving patient safety, decreasing medical errors, and ensuring quality of care in managing neurological illness.

-Navigating a practice through the lens of the complex medico-legal and malpractice system.

-The effect of the COVID-19 on both urgent/emergent and elective practice and how to optimize patient care in the wake of the pandemic.

All practitioners who take care of patients with neurological illness could benefit from this event, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuro-intensivists, neuroradiologist, anesthesiologist, nurses, and nurse practitioners.
