Overview
This annual symposium brings together practitioners from various healthcare settings to develop the necessary skills to improve the quality and delivery of geriatrics and palliative care. Keynote lectures and interactive Q&A discussions explore issues relating to the physical, emotional, and psychological care of older and seriously ill patients and their families. Highlighting this year’s program will be lectures on patient-priorities care, provider death anxiety, hospice care, de-prescribing, and the impact of racism in medicine on older populations. These topics were specifically selected to meet the challenging needs in today's healthcare environment.
Successful Completion
To successfully complete this activity, the required evaluation must be completed no later than Monday, July 18, 2022. Thereafter, the evaluation will no longer be available and credits will not be issued. No refunds will be offered for failure to complete the required evaluation by the stated deadline.
Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians, nurses, and social workers.
Learning Objectives
Following completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Adapt medical care to patients’ health priorities and preferences.
- Value approaches to mitigate death anxiety in reflective practice.
- Describe strategies to improve hospice utilization when appropriate.
- Utilize strategies to reduce harms associated with polypharmacy.
- Examine the impact of racism, both subtle and overt, in medicine over the past decades on health outcomes.

Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received by OCPD before Friday, May 20, 2022 . Registrants who fail to attend the conference are responsible for the entire registration fee. All refunds will be processed after the conference concludes.
Should any emergency arise, of any nature, prior to the opening conference date that would prevent its schedule opening (destruction or damage to the facility by fire, flood, storms, acts of God, etc., or declaration of any emergency by the state of Pennsylvania or the United States Government), Jefferson reserves the right to cancel or postpone the conference. In the event of cancellation or postponement, Jefferson will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to registrants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines or travel agencies.
